MIC Welcomes Inaugural Members of New Dealer Membership Class Advisory Council

22 05 2013

Bob Althoff, Sandy Stroope to Help Support MIC’s New Dealer Members

IRVINE, CA – May 21, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) -  The Motorcycle Industry Council continues to welcome dealers and retailers to its membership for the first time since 1974 and today welcomed the first two members of the new MIC Dealer Advisory Council. Bob Althoff, owner of A.D. Farrow Co. in Columbus, OH, and Sandy Stroope, owner of Boat World Honda Polaris in Harrison, AR, are the inaugural members of what will be an eight-member council.

Sandy-StroopeBob-Althoff

“The MIC’s new Dealer Advisory Council is an integral part of the support system that we are providing to our members,” said MIC President and CEO Tim Buche. “Both Bob Althoff and Sandy Stroope have dedicated their lives and careers to the powersports industry. The value of the Dealer Advisory Council is in listening, discussing, discerning and acting on key issues that manufacturers, dealers and retailers alike can focus on to improve the rider experience. We believe a solid Dealer Advisory Council with members like Bob and Sandy will create better understanding between members and help us all improve.”

The Dealer Advisory Council is intended to represent the needs and interests of these new dealer members. The council will advise the Board and Aftermarket Committee, while the Board will direct Dealer/Retailer dues revenue to market expansion, training and education, public policy and government relations activities.

“It’s an honor to be asked to join the MIC’s Dealer Advisory Council,” said Althoff. “I was one of 25 dealers from 18 states to initially join the MIC and I’m proud to be one of the first two members to serve on the advisory council. I believe that it’s crucial for powersports dealers to come together and help support the MIC as they help support our industry as a whole. I look forward to being a contributing member of this united group and to assisting the new dealer members as they join our growing numbers.”

As owner of A.D. Farrow Co., Althoff runs the oldest Harley-Davidson dealership in the U.S. The venerable company, which has three Columbus, OH, locations, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. Additionally, Althoff was recently awarded the Dealernews Don J. Brown Lifetime Achievement Award, given to representatives of the powersports retail community who have demonstrated a lifelong dedication to the business, the lifestyle, the community and the sport.

Stroope is the owner and operator of Boat World Honda Polaris in Harrison, AR, a multi-line dealership with a decidedly off-road clientele. He is also chairman of the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission and president of the Arkansas Motorcycle Dealer Association.

“I’m extremely proud to serve on the new MIC Dealer Advisory Council,” said Stroope. “As a dealer, I’ve always felt it’s important to be active in your local community. As new members of the MIC, we as dealers now have the opportunity to participate in, and help develop, the larger powersports community that we all have in common. I’m excited about the potential of this advisory committee, and I’m looking forward to working with the MIC and with dealers nationwide to help promote our sport.”

The Motorcycle Industry Council exists to preserve, protect and promote motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations, statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues. As a not-for-profit, national industry association, the MIC seeks to support motorcyclists by representing manufacturers, distributors, dealers and retailers of motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, ROVs, motorcycle/ATV/ROV parts, accessories and related goods and services, and members of allied trades such as insurance, finance and investment companies, media companies and consultants.

The MIC is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., with a government relations office in metropolitan Washington, D.C. First called the MIC in 1970, the organization has been in operation since 1914. Visit the MIC at www.mic.org.

SANTA CLARITA, CA – May 21, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) -

Airflow jacket: AXO’s new Airflow jacket is designed to keep riders cool when they 130521-Airflow-Jackethit the road while offering unmatched safety and comfort. The key is the surplus of mesh on the jacket, there is mesh polyester on the front, inner sleeves and back as well as a mesh lining. The Airflow has CE approved removable shoulder and elbow cups, a pocket for a back protector, reflective inserts and high tenacity polyester on high impact areas. Additionally, the jacket has sleeve and waist adjustments to help achieve the perfect fit.

The Airflow is now available in S-XXXL and suggested retail price is $150.

Pro Race XT Gloves: AXO’s Pro Race XT glove is the successor of the very successful Pro Race and offers everything a rider would want including a great low price. 130521-Pro-Race-XT-Gloves

Technically the Pro Race XT is a racing gloves, but it’s also great for a casual weekend ride thanks to the short cuff structure. New and improved features of the XT are a reflective logo, a two piece knuckle protector and more ventilation throughout the glove. There is perforated leather on the back of the glove and fingers as well as additional ventilation at the top of the glove and fingers. The added perforation and ventilation plays a big role in keeping riders hands cool and dry on hot days as well as allowing for a better fit and more freedom of movement for the hand.

The Pro Race XT glove is currently available in sizes S-XXXL and suggested retail price is $55.

2013 Trans-Am Motocross Gear: AXO introduces the new 3013 Trans-Am gear, now available in black and white color ways. The Trans-Am gear is part of a larger line that includes the Norstar boots and Trans-Am gloves, all of which are inspired from AXO’s look in the late 1970’s. Although the gear looks like it’s from the 70’s, the materials, construction and technology are top of the line for today.

130521-Trans-Am-MX-GearFrom far off the black and white sets of gear appear to be the same, however with a closer look you will see many differences. The white set of Trans-Am gear is fully vented. The entire jersey is a mesh material to provide optimal ventilation for hot riding days. The pants also feature additional ventilation in the front and back of the upper leg and at the shin by having perforated panels.

The jersey is designed to fit either over or under a roost guard all while providing unrestricted freedom of movement. The 100% Poly construction of the jersey makes it both stain and odor resistant as well as completely machine washable.  The jersey also features a longer tail panel which helps to keep it tucked in.

The Trans-Am pants have the features and construction that was once reserved for only the most expensive pants. The materials have been improved to allow for a better fit, longer wear and to reduce the weight. By combining 600 denier Nylon thigh panels with punched Nylon blended thigh and crotch panels the shell of the Trans-Am are comfortable and supportive. 130521-Trans-Am-MX-Gear-2Unique stretch panels wrap the upper thigh and waist as well as the inner thigh allowing a fully flexible upper and lower panel design. AXO’s own Slip Fitting knee and thigh pattern suspends the thigh from the knee allowing the knee panel to operate independently from the leg of the pant. The Slip Fit design feature helps keep the pants securely on the waist. The pants also have side waist adjustment tabs to help keep the pants from sliding off the waist. A vented thigh TPR panel allows air to circulate up the Slip Fit and exit through the venting to help keep riders cool on hot days. The inner knee panels of the pants have leather to reduce heat and protect the pants from additional wear and abrasion. An endless cuff is featured on the bottom of the pants which is slimmer and thinner so a snug boot will not cause discomfort. Up top the closure duties are taken care by using a molded TPR zipper cover and super strength Poly zipper cut a bit longer to help with putting on the pants. A large knee to calf stretch panel adds comfort and stretch to the calf reducing chafing. A smooth tricot liner stops at the knee so as not to interfere with braces and cups. The Trans-Am pants are completely machine washable.

The Trans-Am jersey is currently available in S-XXL and the pants in sizes 28-40 in white and 28-44 in black. Suggested retail price for the jersey is $48 and $138 for the pants.

If you have any questions or would like further information about these products or any AXO products please contact us at 661-257-0916 or via email at info@axo.com

  • LeoVince USA is now distributing Airoh helmets in the U.S.
  • Airoh is a premium helmet manufacturer based in Italy, and produce a full range of helmets for off-road, street and track riding.
  • LeoVince USA will make the Aviator 2.1 D.O.T. off-road helmet available first, with other models to follow in the coming months.
  • The full press kit can be downloaded here.

RICHMOND, CA – May 20, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – LeoVince USA is now the U.S. distributor for Airoh, a premium helmet manufacturer based in Italy. The Aviator 2.1 D.O.T. line of off-road helmets will be the first Airoh model available from LeoVince USA, followed by additional styles in the coming months.

As with all of the products they distribute, LeoVince USA only selects manufacturers who exhibit top-level quality and a homegrown, personal touch. Airoh is no different. The family-owned company offers top-tier helmets across all riding categories and helmet styles, including off-road, full-face, modular, urban jet and even junior designs. Airoh joins a growing list of manufacturers now distributed by LeoVince USA, including Dion Device brake lever guards, GPR stabilizers, BMC Air Filters and Bridgestone racing tires.

Airoh may be a new name to many U.S. riders, but they are already a well-respected brand in pro racing and hold the title as the top offroad brand throughout Europe. In the U.S., some of the standouts who trust their safety to Airoh helmets are Rockstar Energy Racing’s Blake Wharton and Jason Anderson, who race the 250 class of Monster Energy Supercross.

The Aviator model is the top choice of many of Europe’s best motocross riders, including six-time Grand Prix motocross champion Tony Cairoli. On the road side MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso also wears Airoh, and the GP500 full-face helmet line includes a replica sporting the Dovizioso graphics.

Airoh founder Antonio Locatelli stresses the research, development and innovation that go into each helmet. Technicians and athletes work together to constantly refine the designs to improve both rider comfort and increase rider safety. The U.S. helmet will feature dual homologation utilizing both the DOT and ECE safety standards ensuring this helmet protects as well as it performs.

“We’re proud to be introducing Airoh helmets into the U.S. market,” says LeoVince USA Executive Vice President Tim Calhoun. “They produce a premium helmet that is safe, light and innovative. Much of the decision to work with LeoVince USA was because we are experienced in working with exceptional European companies looking to enter the U.S. market. We understand how to brand these companies and are very aware of what their expectations are. Most importantly LeoVince USA operates as a true partner for these companies, not just a reseller or distributor.”

LeoVince USA will begin distribution with five Aviator 2.1 D.O.T. models with additional 2014 styles and colors to follow.

The Aviator is Airoh’s premium off-road helmet and its features include:

  • Two shell sizes of multi axial carbon and Kevlar
  • Sizes XS-XL
  • Wind-tunnel tested design
  • Maximum lightness, comfort and safety
  • Airoh Emergency System for quick and safe removal
  • Spare accessories
  • Sliding visor with quick-screw release
