Ram Truck, RCH Racing Team Up for Motocross

15 05 2013

AUBURN HILLS, Mi – May 15, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Ram Truck and SRT Motorsports today announced they have partnered with RCH (Ricky Carmichael and Carey Hart) Racing to field a team in the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.

CHRYSLER GROUP LLC RCH RACING

“The Ram Truck brand is looking forward to working with Ricky Carmichael, Carey Hart and Broc Tickle, and being part of RCH Racing’s success in the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Motorcyclists rely on durable, proven trucks. Look at any motocross parking lot and all you see are pickups. Motocross is especially effective in reaching younger truck buyers, and we expect our Ram Express will make a lot of new fans this year.”

Michigan-native Broc Tickle will campaign the No. 20 RCH Racing Suzuki in the premier 450 class for the full 12-race series. He finished ninth in the recently completed Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, advancing to the Main Event in all 17 races. It was his first season of 450SX competition with RCH Racing.

“I’m really excited for the outdoor motocross season to start,” said Tickle. “I feel like our RCH Racing team has made really big strides the last four months and we want to carry that over into the outdoor season. I had the best outdoor season of my career last year and when I think about how fast our Suzuki’s are right now, it’s really easy to get pumped. Working with Ricky – the greatest outdoor racer of all-time – is a huge bonus. I feel that we’re in a great position to have success. I’m healthy and I have something to prove to everyone Having Ram on-board for the motocross season is really cool because our fans are die-hards and they love trucks. I can’t wait to get to Hangtown (Motocross Classic just outside Sacramento, Calif.).”

Tickle finished third in last year’s motocross championship. He had an average finish of ninth.

“I am really looking forward to my first motocross season as an owner,” said Carmichael. “Broc had a great rookie season last year and we are hoping he improves this year on his Suzuki RM-Z450. The outdoors are a different animal from supercross and the whole RCH Racing team is looking forward to their first season racing outdoors.”

Hart, the team co-owner, agreed. “I’m really excited to have the RCH team racing their first motocross season. To change from the supercross season, we will be representing the Ram brand and running Ram livery on all of our bikes and hauler. The outdoor series allows us to help promote the Ram brand to a whole new audience. We are very excited to be working with their team.”

In addition to the traditional motocross stops, two new venues have been added to the schedule. The series makes its first visit to Muddy Creek Raceway near Bristol, Tenn. on June 1 and Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City on August 17. The season opens May 18 in Sacramento, Calif. In true Tomac style, he put his head down and went to work, blasting from 7th place to the front of the pack, where he would stand atop the podium in 1st. Just 3 points shy from becoming the 250SX West Champion. Teammate Zach Osborne ripped the holeshot in the East main, but pulled off early after an uninvited mishap cut his night short.

The 250 class had its share of drama for the Salt Lake round, as the Supercross season draws to a close. Yoshimura backed GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac left Rice-Eccles Stadium 2nd in the Championship points chase. GEICO Honda teammates Zach Osborne and Tomac came out swinging in the main event, as the duo grabbed the 1st and 2nd holeshot positions. Yoshimura Rider Justin Barcia Scores his 2nd Win of the Season

23 04 2013

SEATTLE, WA – April 23 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The 2013 Monster Energy Supercross made its way to the rainy Northwest for the 15th round of the series at CenturyLink Field. Riders were met with soggy conditions that tested their ability to maintain control over their motorcycle, despite the ever-changing track conditions.

Yoshimura equipped Muscle Milk Honda’s Justin Barcia rode a flawless 450 main event to take the checkered flag in first place. Barcia ripped the holeshot and avoided the first turn carnage that claimed several riders. He stretched out his lead and remained uncontested for the duration of the race as track conditions resembled those of his Upstate New York home. Seattle marks the second 450 Main win for the Yoshimura powered Muscle Milk Honda camp and Justin Barcia.

RCH Suzuki’s Josh Hill had an interesting night, as he found himself tangled in the first turn pileup. Hill rode his Yoshimura powered Suzuki from the very back of the pack to a hard-fought and commendable 12th. Teammate Broc Tickle made it comfortably into the top 10, with a 7th place finish.

In the 250 West SX class, Yoshimura backed GEICO Honda riders climbed to the podium, with Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Teammate Zach Osborne was also on fire and nailed down his first podium of the year. The podium pair also set the top 2 fastest lap times in 250 A group qualifying practice.

Yoshimura’s Hahn Stays on Top of the 250 Class Championship

16 04 2013

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – April 16, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Despite the unseasonably cold weather in Minneapolis, things were hot inside the Metrodome. This year’s race, will be the last ever in the fabled stadium, as plans for demolition are underway.

Will Hahn

Will Hahn

Yoshimura equipped GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn lined up for the Minneapolis 250 Main Event on the far inside. When the gate dropped, he holeshot himself straight to the top 3. In the opening laps, Hahn nipped at the heels of Blake Wharton, as he looked for any opportunity to get by, and reel in the lead. The championship-leading Yoshimura GEICO Honda machine of Hahn slipped by Wharton, and began to zero-in on Marvin Musquin, who was out front. As the 250 Main drew to a close, it would be Hahn taking 2nd, getting on the Podium, and leaving town again as the Championship Points Leader.

Everything came into place this past weekend for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett and Broc Tickle at the ninth of 12 rounds of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, which was held at the Moto-X 338 National in Southwick, Mass. Baggett earned a dramatic overall win, his fourth of the season, and stretched his points lead out to 24 points in the 250 class, while Tickle earned his second career outdoor podium finish in the 450 class.

Stretching it Out
Baggett was itching for an overall win after finishing third at the previous round at Washougal. He has been the 250 class points leader for the past eight weeks, but hadn’t been able to nail down an overall win since the sixth round of the series at the Red Bud National in Buchanan, Mich. With the series dwindling down, and a championship on the line, Baggett knew he had to stretch his 11-point lead out a bit more in order to fend off a stacked group of competitors. After finishing third in moto one, he dug deep in moto two and put on his signature charge to make a late-race pass for the win. Baggett’s Southwick win marks his fourth overall win of the season, and he is now leading the 250 class by 24 points.

Another Podium Earned
Tickle was feeling the vibe after qualifying with the fastest time of the day in the 450 class. After finishing sixth in moto one, he came back in moto two and navigated through the pack to finish fourth. The 6-4 finish gave him third overall, which was his second career outdoor podium finish in the 450 class. He is currently fifth overall in 450 point standings.
