Veteran Marketer Steve Sturm joins Advanstar Communications as Chief Marketing Officer

He was responsible for all aspects of corporate strategy and planning, strategic research, corporate advertising and marketing communications, as well as media and investor relations. He held a number of positions at Toyota, including corporate marketing manager for the Lexus Division. Sturm was instrumental in the launch and positioning of the Lexus brand. Before joining Toyota in 1981, Sturm was a marketing manager for Hunt-Wesson foods and a product manager for Standard Brands. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from City University of New York, N.Y., and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University.

Fox Shox Hires Chief Marketing Officer

WATSONVILLE, CA – May 12, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Fox Racing Shox has hired a former Nike general manager, Paul Fidrych, as its chief marketing officer.

The new CMO role has been created to expand the company’s marketing support for its powered sports, off-road and mountain bike business.

Fidrych brings more than 17 years of action sports product development, team relations, marketing and business strategy to the executive team. Prior to joining Fox Racing Shox, Fidrych served as general manager of Nike’s women’s equipment. Fidrych also previously held the role of president of Savier Skateboarding, a division of Nike, Inc. Before Savier Skateboarding, he was the director of hardgoods product management for Burton Snowboards.
