Baja Designs’ Scientists Evolve uService™ LED Lighting Systems

10 04 2013

SAN MARCOS, CA – April 10, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Baja Designs (BD) has always engineered and manufactured LED lighting systems with replaceable lenses and optics. Amazingly enough, almost all other LED bars are silicone sealed and not serviceable. If a BD lens is scratched or scored, you don’t replace the entire light as you do with most imported products, nor do you need to send it back to the manufacturer as you would with other popular LED lights.

Baja Designs

BD’s uService™ technology allows you to simply unscrew BD’s water and dust proof lens and seal to replace the damaged optics or lens. On top of that, the same uService™ technology means you can also change the optics of your light. When you consider that BD also includes a limited lifetime warranty on all their lights, uService™ offers the ultimate in purchase protection.

“Racing off-road for over 25 years has taught BD engineers to design products to endure even the roughest of conditions. Our uService™ replaceable lenses and optics will further guarantee a race finish while also saving you money from needing to buy a replacement light,” says Chief Scientist and Baja Designs founder, Alan Roach. Alan also added, “You wouldn’t throw out your car if your windshield cracks, would you? No, you’d just replace the windshield. So why would anyone design a disposable LED driving light? That’s crazy!”

Baja Designs has also evolved the uService™ technology to permit “customization.” Replaceable lenses and optics allow you to customize your pattern for any application on the fly or make repairs quickly and easily. BD’s uService™ products are uniquely o-ring sealed and carry an IP69K rating – that means they are submersible up to 9 feet and pressure washer-safe up to 1450 PSI.

Look for the uService™ icon on all applicable LED products from Baja Designs. More product news from Baja Designs in the upcoming months will reveal a complete series of innovations designed to continually bring you a re-evolution of bright ideas made better.

CHRISTINI AWD 300 2 Stroke

Christini AWD chose to create a program like this to help support the motorcycle community, while also encouraging club riders to get on an All Wheel Drive bike. Clubs can put the money towards anything they want such as an event, a group dual sport ride, or the purse for a race. Once the bike has been built, shipped from the factory and delivered to the club member’s door, Christini AWD then sends a $500 check made out to the appropriate organization.

For club members already interested in a new bike, through the CHRISTINI Club Cash program the individual can give back to their club as well. For those not in a motorcycle club, Christini AWD has also launched an online accessory store where for every 10 dollars spent, the customer receives one dollar in CHRISTINI Cash towards their next accessory or bike purchase.

East Coast Enduro Association Promotes Long Schedule of Hare Scrambles, Enduros for East Coast Off-Roaders

1 03 2013

PICKERINGTON, OH – March 1, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) -  The East Coast Enduro Association’s off-road competition season brings a long list of hare scrambles and enduro competition to AMA members in the eastern United States. As an AMA Featured Series for 2013, the racing kicks off on March 2-3 in Port Elizabeth, N.J., with the Tri-County Hare Scrambles.

“These are great races with a loyal following that fosters a family-friendly atmosphere while providing exceptional competition,” said AMA Off-Road Racing Manager Chuck Weir. “Add in the fact that many of these races boast histories that stretch back decades, and it’s a great mix.”

The enduro schedule begins with one of the oldest of those races, the Sandy Lane Enduro, which takes place on March 17 in Greenbank, N.J. The Meteor Motorcycle Club held the first Sandy Lane Enduro in 1934 as a closed club event and then as an AMA-sanctioned event in 1935. In 1947, the Sandy Lane was awarded a 500-mile national sanction.

“The events provide a diverse range of terrain and challenges for riders of all ages and abilities,” said ECEA President Jamie Theurkauf. “Routes range from the tight sandy trails in South Jersey through the coal fields of Pennsylvania to exploring the small wonders of Delaware and, ultimately, winding around New York’s scenic Finger Lakes region.

“The ECEA has something for everyone — classes ranging from peewees to those over the age of 70 — beginners to pros,” said Theurkauf.

Theurkauf added that the enduro schedule includes both traditional time-keeping events and start control formats. The 13 hare scrambles on the calendar feature head-to-head racing across a wide variety of courses.

“The ECEA invites riders to come out and experience the greatest off-road riding events available, presented to you by the hardest working clubs in the East,” Theurkauf said.

A dozen more two-day races round out the hare scrambles calendar, while the Sandy Lane is followed by a long list of impressive enduro events — 18 more in all — running through the Nov. 24 Pine Hill Enduro in New Lisbon, N.J. The full ECEA off-road competition and dual-sport schedule can be found at www.ecea.org.

Roland Sands

Roland Sands is from Long Beach, California. His diverse upbringing encompasses just about every aspect of the motorcycle industry. His first motorcycle was an RM50 dirtbike given to him on his 5th birthday, on which, after just minutes of riding, he broke a bone… but fell in love with it anyway. His love of speed on two wheels took him to the professional racing ranks for 10 years. He set multiple track records around the world and was the 1998 American Motorcyclist Association 250GP champion. However, 32 broken bones later, Roland decided to trade in his racing leathers for a hammer, pencil and computer designing and began building motorcycles and custom motorcycle products. In 2005, he founded Roland Sands Design. Sands’ designs are a mixture of sportbike and chopper influences and he has played a pivotal role in popularizing high performance custom bikes. Roland and his designs (motorcycles and products) have earned many accolades throughout the years, including three V-Twin Wheel Design of the year awards; V-Twin Control Design; Chip Foose Design of Excellence Award in Sturgis; 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the Modified Harley class at the World Championship of Custom Bike Building; V-Twin Trendsetter of the Year award; Biker Build Off Champion on the Discovery Channel; Biker Build Off Rookie of the year and the 2Wheel Tuner Brappy Award. Honda Unveils Dakar Rally Model – CRF450 Rally

2 10 2012

October 2, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Honda unveiled its CRF450 Rally model at the INTERMOT 2012, International Motorcycle, Scooter and Bicycle Fair in Cologne, Germany. The new machine will compete in the 2013 Dakar Rally motorcycle class to be held in January 2013. Honda has competed 9 times from 1981 in the forerunner of the present Dakar Rally, the Paris-Dakar Rally. Cyril Neveu (France) rode Honda to its first victory in 1982, the race’s fourth year, and from 1986 to 1989 Honda won four consecutive titles for an overall record of five victories in nine years.

The CRF450 Rally model is based on Honda’s commercial CRF450X enduro racing model, and also features Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI*) electronic fuel injection system to ensure fuel efficiency and durability. Honda will participate in the Dakar Rally to be held in South America, one of the world’s leading off-road motorcycle market, and aims for its first rally victory with a model based on a commercial motorcycle.

An 11-time Baja 1000 champion Johnny Campbell (USA) will join the four riders already announced – Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Felipe Zanol (Brazil), Sam Sunderland (United Kingdom) and Javier Pizzolito (Argentina) – to complete the five-man Honda team.

The CRF450 Rally model currently under development has already undergone testing in Japan, and will be ridden in its first race at the Morocco Rally from October 14th. The five riders set to compete in the Dakar Rally will ride the Morocco Rally mainly to gather data, identify any problems with the machine under actual race conditions, and pinpoint any operational issues.
