Kendon Trailers Partners With Shopatron to Bring eCommerce to Their Website.

19 05 2011

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – May 18, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Motorcycle and car buffs the world over are now waiting anxiously for the delivery guy. Buying a motorcycle trailer or bike lift online may not sound like news to you, but it is to many enthusiasts who either couldn’t find a Kendon dealer in their area, or simply wanted to shop for and purchase a trailer or lift online. It’s also news to brands struggling with the decision whether to sell their product directly from their branded website.

Kendon’s fold-up motorcycle trailers and motorcycle lifts have been available at retail dealers nationwide since their founding in 1991. But until recently—because of the nature of their products, and loyalty to their retailer partners—they were reluctant to sell their products online. An introduction to Shopatron changed that.

“We love our retail dealers, as they are the lifeblood to Kendon’s success,” says Kendon President, Frank Esposito. “Nothing works better for the consumer than working with a knowledgeable stocking dealer.  We didn’t want to undermine those relationships by selling online direct to our consumers, so it was great news when we found Shopatron. Now we keep our customer base happy by selling directly from our website, and still keep our retail partners happy giving them the orders. Shopatron is a good business reason for more dealers to stock Kendon.”

Shopatron adds Kendon to a list of nearly 1,000 brands and 12,000 retailers that use Shopatron’s unique eCommerce model to process online orders. Like Kendon, many brands have felt the push to sell online, but needed a way to do so without undermining their retailer sales.

Shopatron Announces Inclusion of mCommerce in onBlocks Platform

18 08 2010

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – August 17, 2010 - (Motor Sports Newswire) – Shopatron announced today that it has launched over 600 mCommerce stores for its client brands. As the leading provider of eCommerce for branded manufacturers in the US and Europe, Shopatron’s announcement marks a major milestone for the mobile web. With the arrival of significant brands like JL Audio, Mizuno, Head Tyrolia, Scott, Segway, Stanley Furniture, Ernie Ball and Wild Birds Unlimited, Shopatron has given branded manufacturers a major representation on mobile phones.

When shoppers using common mobile devices, such as Blackberry, Palm, Android or the iPhone, type in the URL of any of the over 600 eCommerce stores, they will automatically be redirected to a mobile-optimized version of the online store.

The mCommerce sites provide detailed product information, such as product specifications, pricing and detailed imagery. Additionally, they offer features such as alternate views, “contact us” forms, featured products, shopping cart, site search and product zoom.

“Late last year, our clients started asking about mobile commerce. They wanted to provide their customers and potential customers the best access to the brand from anywhere,” stated Sean Collier, CIO and VP of Product at Shopatron. “Let’s say a shopper is in a shop considering a product from Mizuno and a competitive brand. Mizuno wants to provide all information possible to convince the customer to buy their product, whether they buy the product online or in the store. As with their eCommerce site, Mizuno uses their mCommerce site to support their retail partners, not compete with them.”

Shopatron stores client product data in a standardized model that allows the company to quickly repurpose that data into new formats; in this case a mobile-optimized online shop. After this initial standard release, clients will be able to customize their sites as they wish. “These mobile stores are 100% customizable, just like our clients’ eCommerce stores,” Collier confirms.

“One of the reasons we entered into a relationship with Shopatron was because they could keep us at the forefront of eCommerce,” stated Keith Neely, VP of Customer Support of Mizuno USA. “We expect Shopatron, as a partner, to bring things like mobile commerce to the table. It’s fantastic that they can take our eCommerce storefront and optimize it for mobile without us having to pay for new development.”

“This is the ‘power of many’ we always talk about,” added Collier. “By having over 800 brands working together on one platform, they can share in the advances such as the evolution of our onBlocks website platform into mCommerce.”
