BRP Brings New Innovations and New Look to Ski-Doo for 2013

23 02 2012

ORLANDO, FL – FEBRUARY 23, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – BRP introduces the 2013 Ski-Doo snowmobile line-up to its dealers from North America, Russia and Japan, featuring two new chassis, tMotion rear suspension, Flex Edge tracks and more.  The new line-up will appeal to consumers with features to improve their experience and raise the bar for the snowmobile industry once again.

“BRP’s continued focus on innovating to improve our customers’ experience is what defines the 2013 Ski-Doo line-up,” stated Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager for the North America division. “The new ideas and fresh thinking that we applied to both trail and mountain snowmobiles continue to separate BRP from competitors and keep our core customers engaged while attracting newcomers to the sport.”

NEW REV-XS and REV-XM chassis

Leading the way at this year’s annual dealer meeting is the all new REV-XM platform for the mountains and the new REV-XS body style for cross-country and cross-over applications. The REV-XM platform delivers new ergonomics, function and styling to the mountain market and will establish a new benchmark in rear suspension and handling with innovative features like the tMotion rear suspension and Flex Edge track design. The REV-XS platform, for trail use, takes the look to a new level with layered floating edge design and intricate details including a jewel inspired headlight, side panels that significantly improve both function and appeal, a new tail light, snow flap and unique storage area.

“We start the second decade of the REV chassis design with the attributes of rigid pyramidal frame construction, driver and mass centered design, by giving it a whole new look and feel,” declared Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager for the International division. “BRP is bringing specialized products to markets around the world that allow our dealers and distributors to enrich the consumer experience and keep BRP products at the forefront.”

tMotion Rear Suspension

Creative thinking has lead to a new design that enables the rear suspension rails to twist two degrees in each direction – allowing the rider to more easily initiate mountain type carving turns. The suspension also incorporates a rising-rate rear shock motion ratio to deliver a comfortable ride in small bumps while maintaining the capacity for larger bumps.

Flex Edge Track

Thinking outside the box once again has led to another innovation from BRP. The 16 inch (41 cm) wide Flex Edge track features centered reinforcing rods that are 12 inches (31 cm) long rather than traditional designs running full width. This allows the outside two inches (5 cm) of track to actually bend and flex when a rider initiates a mountain type carving turn, again requiring less effort.

rMotion Rear Suspension Expands

The widely acclaimed rMotion rear suspension expands into the Renegade model as engineers reworked it to fit the 137-inch (392-cm) track length for a segment that continues to see increased consumer interest. Plus, the industry-leading suspension will be offered to more consumers as the Ski-Doo MX Z TNT models will gain its benefits of comfort, capability, and adjustability.

Integrated Accessories – Plus LinQ System

The trend of customizing to meet specific needs continues to grow. BRP therefore introduces a complete line of accessories for the new REV-XM and REV-XS platforms also. Innovative items like auxiliary light and GPS kits integrate perfectly and are prewired for plug and play installation, or new 1 + 1 seats that provide flexibility to comfortably fit a passenger quickly and easily.

Also new is the LinQ quick-attach system that allows fast and easy installation of modular accessories like a fuel caddy and tunnel bag.

BRP Adds Models To Its Can-Am Amateur Racer Support Program

6 12 2011

VALCOURT, QC – December 5, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – For the 2012 ATV and side-by-side racing season, BRP has added certain Can-Am® Outlander™ and Renegade™ ATV models and Can-Am Commander™ side-by-side vehicles to its amateur racer support program that has included the Can-Am DS 450™ ATV for the past three racing seasons. To complement the additional models added, BRP will also support new 4×4 ATV and side-by-side classes and series adding to its industry-leading Can-Am X-Team Racing contingency program.

“BRP understands the value of an ATV racing contingency program and has already established itself as an industry leader with the DS 450 Amateur Racer Support Program,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “We added 4×4 ATV models and side-by-side vehicles as way to support those amateur racers who choose to race 4×4 ATVs and side-by-sides. BRP wants to fuel their desire to compete and make it more feasible to chase their dreams, whether it be on a local or national level.”

Starting right now, eligible units in the program include all new or unused 2010, 2011 and 2012 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATVs, and all 2011 and 2012 new or unused Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles. Benefit of the program includes a $1000 factory discount on all eligible ATV models and a $1500 factory discount on all eligible side-by-sides. Full details of the Can-Am X-Team racing contingency program will be released in the following months. This new 4×4 support program joins the existing DS 450 Racer Support Program and begins immediately.

Amateur racers who compete in their local series or a nationally recognized racing circuit can qualify for the model rebate. They will need to register with an authorized Can-Am dealer and purchase a qualifying ATV or SxS. However, the number of vehicles eligible for the program is limited and once BRP reaches that number, the program will end.

Racers, who meet the 4×4 contingency program qualifications can earn the rebate and also receive cash payouts in the amount earned based on their finishing position in an event. The payment is mailed directly to the participant or legal guardian. BRP will also continue to award contingency for overall championships at the conclusion of the racing season.

Contingency cash is paid out in all major U.S. national racing series, including the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series, World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS), High Lifter Mud Nationals as well as numerous local off-road racing series. The list of qualified racing series has expanded for 2012 to include even more racing circuits, from desert events to hare scrambles to endurance events in the U.S. and Canada. The 2012 Can-Am X-Team Racing Contingency Program will be announced at a later date.

BRP Ski-Doo Snowmobiles: 10 Models BAT Certified for Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

21 10 2011

VALCOURT, QUEBEC, – October 21, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) -  BRP has ten 2012 Ski-Doo snowmobile models certified Best Available Technology (BAT) for use in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks where some of the toughest emission standards are enforced. These BRP products stand alone as the only 2012 snowmobiles to be certified with no modifications or kits.

Snowmobiles must be BAT certified by the National Park Service to enter Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. BAT certification is one of the most stringent standards for air and noise emissions in the world, requiring hydrocarbon emissions of less than 15 g/kW-hr, carbon monoxide emissions of less than 120 g/kW-hr, and sound level limited to 73 decibels.

These ten Ski-Doo snowmobiles are all equipped with four-stroke engines, either the ultra-quiet and efficient Rotax ACE 600 engine or the more powerful Rotax 4-TEC 1200 powertrain. The certified Ski-Doo snowmobiles require no modifications or throttle limiters to meet the BAT standards.

“BRP is committed to providing responsible recreational products that meet or exceed our customer’s needs while being as environmentally friendly as possible,” said Robert Lumley, vice-president, Sales and Marketing, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo. “Unlike our competition, these ten machines require no modifications. All customers using these models are getting this same kind of fuel economy and efficiency, not just sleds limited to Yellowstone or Grand Teton national parks.”

BRP’s Rotax ACE 600 engine was designed for efficiency, with every aspect focused on maximizing output, minimizing fuel consumption, reducing maintenance and extending longevity. Fuel economy on some models is an industry-leading 8 L/100 km (29 mpg).

The Rotax 4-TEC 1200 engine is designed more for performance. This engine meets the demands of experienced riders across the world by delivering a lightweight and powerful four-stroke package that translates to easy handling and quick acceleration in the REV-X chassis.

BRP’s unmatched leadership in advanced technology powertrains, including the ACE 600 and 4-TEC 1200 engines, has contributed significantly in powering Ski-Doo snowmobiles to the number one sales position in the industry.

Ski-Doo models certified for BAT are offered in one- and two-rider configurations, including: the Grand Touring SE, Grand Touring LE with the Rotax 4-TEC 1200 engine, and the Grand Touring Sport, MX Z Sport, MX Z TNT, Renegade, Tundra LT, Tundra Sport, Expedition Sport, and Skandic WT, all equipped with the Rotax ACE 600 engine.
