DENVER, CO – September 29, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The 64th Motocross of Nations took place on the hard pack of Thunder Valley circuit at Lakewood in the sunny and mild Colorado weather over the weekend. Team USA again won the annual event, scoring their 21st victory in Motocross Nations history.
Confirmation of the home riders’ success was only possible in the third and final moto as a 1-2 finish knocked Germany from the top of the standings. The final outing witnessed new AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey take his second win of the day ahead of team-mate Andrew Short.
Pirelli Scorpion tires made a good showing on the podium as well. Belgian and 2010 MX1 World Championship runner-up Clement Desalle, steered his works Suzuki booted with Pirelli Scorpion MidSoft 32 front and rear to overall victory in the Open category. With the same rubber World Champion Antonio Cairoli earned second place in MX1 to Dungey with the KTM 350SX-F. The Sicilian fought closely in the first race with the American until a heavy landing from a quad jump tweaked his ankle and he also struggled with asthma. In the second race Cairoli recovered from a bad start to cross the finish line with 4th.
