Dungey Wins Seventh in a Row at Washougal

28 07 2010
  • Ryan Dungey won both motos at Washougal for his seventh overall victory in a row in the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross series.
  • Dungey is now 95 points ahead of second place in the race to the championship.
  • The Suzuki fuel-injected RM-Z450 gave Dungey all the power he needed to win both races.

BREA, CA – July 26, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey raced to his seventh overall win on Saturday at the Washougal MX track in Washington. Round 8 of the AMA Pro Motocross series hosted two 450 motos on Saturday and Dungey won both, raising his moto win tally to 12 and giving him his seventh victory in a row this season.

“Today was good, and I was able to make some key passes and get out front thanks to my Rockstar Makita Suzuki,” Dungey said. “The whole team worked together and made it work well today. I just want to keep the momentum going through the end of the season.”

Dungey continued his winning streak in moto 1 when he got a top-five start and methodically worked his way to the front of the pack by the end of the fourth lap. He has been so consistent in 2010 that he seems to effortlessly take over and maintain the lead. His RM-Z450 powered him over every obstacle at the picturesque Washington track and past any racers in front of him.

In the second moto, Dungey again made quick passes and moved his way to the front by lap 7. Again, he focused and put in lap after fast lap on his RM-Z450, taking the win and increasing his points lead to 95. His 1-1 moto victories are a continuation of the great 2010 season Dungey has built so far with his Rockstar Makita Suzuki team.

Matt Moss finished 14th in the second moto after an unfortunate first moto. He launched to an aggressive start in moto two, and ran with the leaders for several laps before falling back. Moss was 17th overall for the day.

The next race on the AMA Pro Motocross circuit takes place at Unadilla raceway in New Berlin, NY, on August 14th.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Tommy Hahn Podiums in Washougal

28 07 2010
  • Tommy Hahn put in a hard charge from 6th to 3rd place aboard his RM-Z450 during moto two to take his second podium of the season, and 4th overall at Washougal.
  • Chris Johnson and Jarred Browne took 17th and 18th respectively in Washougal.
  • Ryan Morais and Hunter Hewitt are back on their bikes this week, and will be visiting their doctors for evaluation later in the week.

BREA, CA – July 27, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Just one week after making his return to racing at the Spring Creek National, Tommy Hahn worked his way up to his second podium position of the 2010 season in moto two at Saturday’s Washougal National. “Tommy put in some great rides, and put together two solid motos,” said Team Manager Bill Keefe. “It’s good to see him up in the top five where he belongs.”

Tommy got off the line in a hurry in moto one, running sixth coming into turn one. Tommy put in a solid ride, battling for position with the other riders, and pushing up to fifth by the halfway point of the moto. On lap thirteen, Tommy made a push for fourth, but slid out when he got on the power for the pass. Hahn made a quick recovery and got back in the race, but he had lost two positions and finished seventh.

Moto two saw Hahn launch to a solid start again, and make a strong push from sixth to third late in the race to take his second podium position of the season. His RM-Z450′s suspension was working overtime on the track’s choppy surface, but it allowed Hahn to carefully choose his lines, and the fuel-injected engine gave him great drives down the straights.

Tommy’s current teammates, Jarred “Jet” Browne in the 450 class and Chris Johnson in the 250 class, both struggled in Washougal. Jarred placed in the top fifteen in moto one, but a crash in moto two put him in 32nd for an overall finish of eighteenth. Chris also put in a top fifteen finish in moto one, and a seventeenth place finish in moto two placed him seventeenth overall.

Fellow Rockstar Energy Suzuki racers Ryan Morais and Hunter Hewitt will be back on their bikes this week after taking some time off to recover from the injuries they sustained earlier in the season. Both riders will be evaluated later this week to determine when they will be able to return to racing. “It’s still too early to say when Hunter or Ryan will be able to race, but they are back on their bikes and practicing again,” said Keefe. “They will be seeing their doctors for evaluation later this week.”
