Sparta Commercial Services, Alleging Fraud, Sues DZ Bank

23 01 2013

NEW YORK, NY – January 23, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Sparta Commercial Services, Inc. (OTCBB: SRCO) today announced that it has initiated a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against the New York branch of DZ Bank, one of the largest banks in Germany.

The claims alleged against DZ Bank relate to a $25 million revolving credit facility issued to Sparta by DZ Bank to support Sparta’s business of financing and leasing motorcycles and other powersports vehicles.  Among other claims, Sparta seeks damages of $84 million for DZ Bank’s fraud and breach of its fiduciary duties.

Anthony Havens , CEO of Sparta, said:  “DZ Bank contracted with Sparta for the exclusive rights to provide Sparta with a $25 million credit facility for which we paid DZ Bank substantial six figure fees, and trusting the truth of what DZ Bank told us, we incurred substantial costs and losses which we seek to recover in this lawsuit, having learned that DZ Bank had its own, undisclosed internal issues, and misled us as to its intentions with regard to the credit facility.”

As the lawsuit was only recently commenced, the ultimate disposition of the lawsuit cannot now be determined.  Sparta makes no representation about the potential outcome of the lawsuit and there may be substantial costs incurred as a result of the prosecution of the lawsuit.

BRP Awarded 2012 “Ski of the Year” for the Sea-Doo RXP-X 260

1 07 2012

VALCOURT, QC – June 29, 2012- (Motor Sports Newswire) - BRP received the “Ski of the Year” award from watercraft industry forum PWCToday.com for its new high-performance Sea-Doo RXP-X* 260 watercraft featuring the all new T-shape (T3) hull design and Ergolock system that better connects the rider to the machine.

“PWCToday.com’s six-person selection committee awarded an amazing 9.14 average out of 10 to the 2012 Sea-Doo RXP-X* and nearly a perfect 10 in the fun factor category,” said John Salvatore of PWCToday.com and the Watercraft Superstore.  “From the looks to the handling, every rider had nothing but praise for this watercraft.”

This is BRP’s second Ski of the Year award with the 2011 Sea-Doo GTI SE 130 model taking the top spot last year. This year, the 2012 Sea-Doo RXP-X* was judged side-by-side with the best new watercraft from the industry by a variety of riders of varying skill and experience levels in multiple categories. With its improved rider ergonomics and new hull design, the ability of the new Sea-Doo RXP-X* to allow riders to fully realize their performance potential led to high marks in overall fun.

“BRP focuses on elevating the consumer experience for every product we build. For many riders, the Sea-Doo RXP-X* redefines the high-performance watercraft,” said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager for the North America division. “Winning the second straight PWCToday.com Ski of the Year award chosen by real riders is the result of BRP’s dedication to developing designs and technologies that focus on improving the riders’ experience.”

The new Sea-Doo RXP-X commands attention on any waterway with an ominous visual appeal, the distinctive new ErgoLock system and the tight-turning T3 hull. BRP’s ErgoLock system received high praise for its angled footwell wedges and a gradually narrowing seat designed to better connect the rider to the watercraft. It reduces upper body fatigue by allowing the rider to ride with more confidence and less effort. BRP’s ErgoLock system compliments the tight turning aspect of the new, lean-in style T3 hull that test riders noted as providing near effortless turning capabilities.

“BRP continues to be a trendsetter,” stated Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, International division. “With the introduction of the Sea-Doo RXP-X* 260 watercraft, state of-the-art technologies designed to increase product performance allow BRP to maintain its status as the recognized industry leader in innovation.”

BRP’s Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 watercraft also won a 2012 Red Dot award earlier this year for product design in the transportation category. The Red Dot Design Awards is a prestigious international design competition in which more than 1,800 manufacturers and designers from 58 countries submitted a total of 4,515 product designs.

SkyLINK Introduces Advanced Theft-Recovery Solution for Powersport Vehicles

4 04 2012

GPS-enabled theft-protection system provides ultimate responsiveness to recover stolen motorcycles, ATVs, watercraft and other motorsport vehicles

PHOENIX, AZ – April 4, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) - Inilex®, a leading provider of aftermarket telemetry solutions for vehicles, is extending its state-of-the-art vehicle theft recovery solution to the booming powersports market. The company today released SkyLINK PowerSport, an advanced vehicle recovery system that uses a combination of GPS, wireless and satellite technologies to track and recover stolen motorcycles, ATVs, watercraft, scooters, snowmobiles and other motorsport vehicles in real time.

SkyLINK PowerSport is a compact device that is discretely installed by a dealer on nearly any motorsport vehicle. The durable unit is water resistant, vibration resistant and dustproof to withstand even the toughest riding or storage conditions. Also, since it draws a negligible 4 microamps of power, it will not drain the battery.

As soon as a vehicle is reported stolen, SkyLINK’s 24/7 agents use cutting-edge GPS and cellular technologies to track it and provide its exact location to the police department. SkyLINK PowerSport works with all law enforcement agencies and, because it tracks powersports in real-time, the theft is reported to police as a high-priority crime. As a result, most SkyLINK-equipped vehicles are recovered within 24 hours, and many within minutes.

“Powersport vehicles have two strikes against them when it comes to theft – they’re easier to steal than cars because they can be placed in a truck bed, and they’re more difficult to recover because they can be easily hidden and their parts can be quickly altered,” said Michael Maledon, CEO of Inilex. “SkyLINK PowerSport tackles both of these issues by tracking its location whether it’s running or not, and ensuring the theft is reported as a crime in progress, triggering police to take immediate action.”

Monitor Your Powersport Vehicle Even When You’re Not Riding It

To help thwart theft, SkyLINK PowerSport automatically sets a Quick Fence early-theft detection perimeter around powersport vehicles when the ignition is shut off. If it moves without the owner’s knowledge, they are immediately notified by an email or text alert. The Quick Fence is disabled when the ignition is turned on. Additionally, SkyLINK Powersport offers an online dashboard called SkyLINK PROTECT that promotes safety by enabling owners to track their powersport vehicle’s location, speed and battery levels when others are using it. Using SkyLINK PROTECT, vehicle owners can set geographic and speed thresholds and receive text or email alerts when either is exceeded.

The Dealer Advantage

Dealers can also take advantage of SkyLINK PowerSport to track vehicles that are being test driven or used by employees, as well as to locate vehicles stolen from their lots. They can keep their inventory in check and account for every vehicle’s location at all times. Dealers using the SkyLINK monitoring service may also secure better terms from their bank lenders and insurance carriers because of the inventory management function.

SkyLINK PowerSport is now available through motorcycle, motorsports and car dealerships across the country at the time of vehicle purchase, and is good for the lifetime of the vehicle. The first year of the SkyLINK PROTECT subscription service is free of charge and it can be renewed for a low cost following that.

Sparta Welcomes McCook, IL to Its Municipal Lease Program

4 01 2012

NEW YORK, NY – January 4, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Sparta Commercial Services, Inc. (OTCBB: SRCO) today announced that McCook, IL has become the latest municipality to join Sparta’s Municipal Lease Program with the acquisition of new industrial maintenance equipment. The transaction also represents a further expansion of the asset class range that the Sparta Program can and will support, which includes police motorcycles and cruisers, tactical and utility vehicles, fire and emergency equipment, and virtually all types of essential equipment considered necessary by a given jurisdiction.

According to Sparta, the continuing growth of its Municipal Lease Program reflects a desire among an increasing number of municipalities across the United States to lower their annual capital outlays at a time when they are challenged by decreasing revenues but still require equipment for essential services. Sparta’s Municipal Lease Program offers municipalities the opportunity to conserve capital within their annual budgets.  Leasing the equipment allows for payments to be made over time, rather than paying the entire purchase price up front.

Derek Molis, McCook’s Director of Operations and Events, commented, “This was our first experience with Sparta’s Municipal Lease Division, and the people there were helpful and thoughtful, and worked closely with us through the entire process. They handled our leasing arrangement with an acute knowledge concerning governmental processes and procedures, and we are very pleased with the quality of their involvement.”

Joe Moran, representative for Atlas First Access Material Handling, the vendor  providing the equipment for the transaction, commented, “All I can say is that although this was our first experience with Sparta’s Municipal Leasing Program, their attention to detail, outstanding communications, and overall professionalism, was everything we could have hoped for. We hope to utilize their services more often with our other municipal clients.”

Summing up, Anthony Havens, Sparta’s CEO, said, “As we expand the asset classes of leasable equipment, and as we bring on an ever-increasing number of cities, states, towns and villages to our Municipal Lease Program, our commitment to the principle of providing a more cost-effective way for municipalities to acquire the essential equipment they need is continually reinforced. We understand the economic difficulties governmental agencies are facing, and whenever we can help with our Municipal Lease Program, we’re particularly pleased.”

Sparta Commercial Welcomes Essex Fells, NJ to its Municipal Lease Program

28 09 2011

NEW YORK, NY – September 28, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Sparta Commercial Services, Inc. (OTCBB: SRCO) today announced that Essex Fells, NJ, has become the most recent jurisdiction to join the growing number of municipalities across the country that are utilizing Sparta’s Municipal Lease Program for the acquisition of their essential equipment. Essex Fells is the fifth New Jersey municipal agency—including the City of Newark—to join the ranks that have selected the Sparta Municipal Program to acquire the Harley-Davidson police motorcycles they require.

Sparta’s Municipal Lease Program is becoming increasingly popular among towns, cities, and other government entities throughout the United States as an alternative to the traditional “all cash up-front” method of acquiring their necessary equipment. The emerging preference for the Sparta program lies in the fact that it enables these governmental agencies to pay the cost of equipment over time and avoid the burden of having to place additional strains on limited annual budgets.  This is of critical value to these jurisdictions in these already difficult economic times.

Commenting on the transaction, Lieutenant Donald Allen of the Essex Fells Police Department said, “This is our first experience with Sparta’s Municipal Lease division and I can report that the entire process went smoother and easier than we could have hoped. We will consider Sparta for future leasing needs as well.”

Paul McGlynn, Operations Manager at Liberty Harley-Davidson in Rahway, NJ, which is the vendor that supplied the motorcycles for this and another Sparta transaction, added, “Working with Sparta’s Municipal Lease professionals is definitely a pleasure. They have a keen understanding of our needs, and they consistently make the transactions as simple and straightforward as possible.”

In closing, Anthony Havens, Sparta’s CEO, said, “Every time we’re able to help these critical agencies meet their equipment needs in a more economical way, we take special pride in accomplishing the task. Not only do these local governments deserve to have the newest and most reliable equipment available, they also deserve to have the most cost-effective means possible to meet their equipment needs and we know that we’re providing that for them.”

Building a Specialty Mobile App from the radically innovative platform requires no particular technical expertise; a myriad of customizable images and content features can be easily uploaded to a dedicated server from which the app can be “published” to the appropriate smart phone app platform.

Because of the depth of its knowledge and familiarity with the powersports, auto, and RV markets, Sparta Commercial and its subsidiary, Specialty Reports, Inc. decided to initially focus on the promotion of the Specialty Mobile App product to those market segments.  In addition to a number of automotive and RV dealers, a few early adopters in the motorcycle industry include:

  • Big 4 Cycles & Marine – Indiana
  • Adventure Harley-Davidson – Ohio
  • Cowboy Harley-Davidson – Texas
  • Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson – South Carolina
  • Ray Price Harley-Davidson – South Carolina
  • Ray Price Triumph – South Carolina
  • Harley-Davidson of Ocean County – New Jersey
  • American Motorcycle Trading – Texas
  • Mad River Harley-Davidson – Ohio
  • Superstition Harley-Davidson – Arizona
  • Anthem Harley-Davidson – Arizona
  • Prestonburg Honda – Kentucky
Commenting on the rapid acceptance of Specialty Mobile Apps within the targeted business categories, Anthony Havens, CEO of both Sparta and Specialty Reports, said “The unusually strong enthusiasm that we’re seeing every day from retail powersports, auto, RV dealers, and others about our new Specialty Mobile App is a powerful endorsement of the product’s value.  It reinforces our initial belief that we could develop and introduce a mobile app platform that could be utilized by almost anyone, at a cost that virtually any business can afford.”
