Yamaha’s 2014 YFZ450R Now Assembled in USA

12 06 2013

Now with More Power, New Styling and a New Standard in Race-Ready Handling

CYPRESS, CA – June 12, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) - Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., has introduced a new Assembled in U.S.A. YFZ450R for the 2014 model year. This high-performance sport quad from the clear leader in the sport ATV industry boasts power gains and improved handling and is now being produced at the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) in Newnan, Georgia, for worldwide distribution.

2014 Yamaha YFZ450R_blu_S3The new race-ready YFZ450R is the highest performance, most technologically advanced sport ATV on the market combining a high-tech, quick-revving, titanium five-valve, 449cc fuel-injected engine with a lightweight, professional-caliber cast aluminum-steel chassis.

All-new on the 2014 YFZ is the industry’s first assist and slipper clutch on a stock Sport ATV. This technology reduces clutch lever effort by approximately 25 percent, increases clutch plate pressure for positive engagement, reduces the engine braking effect allowing for faster cornering – particularly when downshifting – and allows the suspension to absorb bumps better during braking. All combined, this new Sport ATV technology makes for less rider fatigue especially during long motos and all-day trail rides.

For more power, the 2014 YFZ450R’s 449cc engine uses titanium five-valve cylinder head technology with new cam profiles and a newly designed exhaust system that delivers abundant power from the mid-range to the top end and provides more hit feeling right off the bottom.

The YFZ450R incorporates Yamaha’s Fuel Injection for precise fuel delivery. With a big 42mm Mikuni® throttle body and 12-hole injector, this system provides exceptional atomization of the fuel for maximum power. The system also includes Idle Speed Control (ISC) for easy, reliable start-up and warming.

The new styling and body configuration allows more space for aggressive racers to shift their weight on this highly rider-active vehicle. The seat is narrow in the front, while wide and padded in the rear with redesigned rear fenders providing the smoothest side-to-side transitions in hard, fast corners. The popular quick-release fasteners – previously only available on Special Edition models – are now standard on all YFZs and provide for no-tools installation and removal of the front and rear fenders.

The wheels have been designed with the inner lip rolled in. This increases the rigidity, allowing a reduction in weight while maintaining strength. The wheels are set for motocross-spec width at nearly 49 inches for great cornering. Its Maxxis® tires are designed to help provide excellent handling, sliding control, and traction. At 20 inches in the rear and 21 inches in the front, they provide much better ground clearance than the competition – a benefit on rough tracks and trails. The YFZ gets excellent stopping ability, from dual front hydraulic disc brakes and a lightweight wave-type rear rotor.

The YFZ450R has large diameter, aluminum tapered handlebars that reduce vibration and are mounted on four-way clamps for adjustability. There are two sets of holes in the handlebar crown and the eccentric clamps so the rider can choose the standard setting, 10mm or 20mm forward, or 10mm back.

New heel guards provide more room and are positioned closer to the chassis for a slimmer feel, while the vehicle’s foot pegs are a generous 2.6 inches wide providing grip and stability even on tough terrain.

The frame is a combination of aluminum and steel for the best balance of light weight and rigidity. The frame member under the engine is steel, used for its combination of strength and low profile. This allows the engine to sit at its lowest possible point for excellent mass centralization and unmatched handling. The aluminum frame is bolted together, rather than welded, for maximum durability.

The front frame is as narrow as possible at the A-arm mounting points. This dramatically increases the A-arm length, which reduces changes in camber as the suspension travels through its full range of motion. The new front KYB® shocks with 9.8 inches of travel and Kashima™ coating are longer for increased suspension stroke with superb bump absorption and excellent anti-bottoming characteristics. The rear swingarm with 11 inches of travel is crafted of strong, gravity-fed aluminum, and it is matched to a fully adjustable 46mm KYB® piggyback shock absorber for excellent handling.

Every 2014 YFZ450R is being manufactured exclusively in the U.S.A. at Yamaha’s factory in Newnan, Georgia, for worldwide distribution.

The 2014 YFZ450R will be available this August in Team Yamaha Blue/White and a new Blaze Orange second color option. MSRP is $8,599. A Special Edition in Crimson Red/Black graphics with dealer-installed GYTR® black front grab bar will have an MSRP of $8,949.

Yamaha Motorsports Ups US ATV/SxS Production; Adds Hundreds of US Jobs

12 06 2013

Yamaha Completes U.S. Production Transfer to Georgia Facility and Opens Second Plant for All-New Vehicle

CYPRESS, CA – June 12, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., (YMUS) has announced the completion of its all-terrain vehicle (ATV) production transfer from overseas facilities to the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) in Newnan, Georgia, adding hundreds of jobs to its U.S. facility.

Yamaha also announced today that it has opened a second dedicated assembly plant in Newnan for the production of future Side-by-Side (SxS) products, including the new Viking, an all-new vehicle that sets a new standard in the three-person multi-purpose SxS segment.

Since the ATV production transfer strategy was first announced in 2010, Yamaha has moved production of all of its top-of-the-line, image leading models like the Grizzly 700 FI, the industry’s first ATV with Electric Power Steering, and most recently the YFZ450R, the highest performance, most technologically advanced sport ATV on the market. All of these ATVs, along with all of Yamaha’s SxS vehicles, are now produced exclusively at YMMC for worldwide distribution.

Already the largest employer in Newnan, YMMC is poised to continue growing in Georgia and will add another 100 jobs to support Viking production in Plant 2 this year. Another 300 jobs could be added over the next three to five years based on forecasts. The advanced manufacturing facility covers more than 850,000 square feet and includes the latest technology, equipment and procedures in motorsports manufacturing.

“Yamaha continues to ramp up U.S. production thanks to the ATV production transfer, the introduction of all-new products like the Viking, and improving market conditions,” said Mike Martinez, vice president of Yamaha’s ATV/SxS group. “Yamaha is one of the largest motorsports companies in the world, and it is exciting to see the company’s increased emphasis on U.S. manufacturing. The U.S. is the world’s largest ATV and SxS market with more than 70 percent of global sales. It makes great business sense for Yamaha to manufacture these products right here in the U.S. for worldwide distribution.”

Increased production has benefited both Yamaha customers and the local community in Newnan, Georgia. Yamaha employs more than 1,250 people there – up from 1,100 since the ATV production transfer began in 2011. In total, Yamaha has added approximately 200 jobs in Georgia between its factory in Newnan and Yamaha’s corporate offices in Kennesaw.

“The Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America is a world-class facility with the highest standards and certifications for quality, environmental manufacturing and safety,” said Mike Chrzanowski, senior vice president of operations and engineering services at YMMC. “Yamaha has invested more than $250 million over the past decade to support our expansion and our employees – who are some of the best in the world – and to make our U.S. factory the center of Yamaha’s worldwide ATV and SxS vehicle production.”

“I am happy to hear Yamaha will be expanding their production in Georgia’s Third Congressional District,” said Congressman Lynn Westmoreland. “News like this reminds us what a great state Georgia is for businesses. Yamaha has been an integral part of Newnan’s economy since they first started production here, and we expect they will continue to provide jobs and community support as their company expands. I look forward to continuing to work with Yamaha as they grow their Newnan location.”

In total, Yamaha employs upwards of 3,150 people across the U.S. – up from 2,800 in 2011 – and supports more than 30,000 additional jobs through its manufacturing facilities, corporate offices, field staff, distribution centers, suppliers and dealer partners. The Newnan factory alone spends more than $170 million annually with 137 worldwide suppliers – 125 of which are also based in North America. Yamaha has corporate offices, regional offices, factories and distribution centers in nine states including Georgia, California, Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Illinois, New Jersey and Washington.

Yamaha Continues to Lead ATV Racing Fielding Championship Riders and Trackside Support

CYPRESS, CA – February 26, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., has announced its 2013 ATV race team with championship-caliber riders in motocross and cross-country racing. The clear leader in sport ATVs, Yamaha also continues to support riders throughout the ranks with trackside programs and other benefits for riding blue.

Yamaha-Racing-website

Yamaha has signed Chad Wienen and Thomas Brown to race the AMA ATV MX pro class, Dustin Nelson to compete in the Yamaha QuadX Series and World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS), and Walker Fowler to represent Yamaha in the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) XC-1 Pro Class.

Yamaha’s support of these riders and more – and their combined successes in 2012 – earned it two of the industry’s most coveted awards: the AMA ATV MX and GNCC ATV Manufacturer’s titles.

“Yamaha is excited to announce its championship caliber ATV race teams with top riders competing in the country’s leading motocross and cross-country series,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha ATV/Off-Road racing coordinator. “Earning the manufacturer’s cups last year from both the AMA and GNCC series is a great honor and further solidifies Yamaha’s commitment to ATV racing both on and off the track.”

The reigning AMA Pro ATV champion Chad Wienen will again be racing a Yamaha YFZ450R for his Wienen Motorsports team this year. Wienen claimed his first-ever AMA championship last year aboard the YFZ-R with a 31-point advantage over his nearest rival capturing six wins and 10 straight podiums. Thomas Brown is also back for Yamaha and racing under the Wienen Motorsports banner after a strong fifth overall finish in the AMA series last year. A formidable pair, Wienen and Brown also took first and second place, respectively, at the 2012 Montreal Supermotocross event in Quebec in front of 40,000 fans.

Dustin Nelson of Nelson Racing, who holds a record five QuadX Series titles, returns for the 2013 season aboard his YFZ450R. Nelson will continue to focus his efforts on both the Yamaha QuadX Series and WORCS along with teammate Josh Row. The Nelson-Row combo comprises decades of experience across a variety of race series and events including a 2012 Baja 500 Open Pro 450 class team win alongside Travis Dillion and D.J. Noerr.

The 2011 AMA ATV Racer of the Year and XC-2 Pro Am champ Walker Fowler will lead the way for Yamaha in the GNCC series. He looks to continue his climb up the ranks in the 2013 season and maintain Yamaha’s winning history of championship cross-country racing.

“The 2012 season was the start of a refocused effort to further strengthen our team and trackside support programs, which proved very successful with championship runs and strong finishes from all of our riders,” Luce said. “Yamaha will continue to focus not only on these top riders, but also on the broader field of enthusiasts and up-and-comers through our dealers, trackside support programs and participation at major events throughout the year.”

Yamaha will continue its ATV trackside support program working with Layne Barnes and Pro Motorsports (http://www.promotorsportsiowa.com/) from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, covering all AMA ATV national events. Barnes is a longtime ATV enthusiast, and he and his staff will offer support for Yamaha riders by stocking replacement parts and providing technical assistance on race days.

Yamaha will also continue to support the Yamaha QuadX Series with help from Roy Bloodworth and his Big Kid Racing team (http://www.bigkidracing.com/). Bloodworth and his crew will continue providing parts, service, technical assistance and race information to competitors throughout the season.

“Yamaha is excited about this ATV race team’s potential for another championship season, and we wish all Yamaha riders the best of luck this year,” Luce said.

Yamaha’s Traci Cecco-Pickens Makes ATV Racing History with 9th Championship

22 10 2012

Winningest Women in GNCC ATV Racing Announces Retirement at Ironman GNCC

CYPRESS, CA – October 22, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) - Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., is celebrating a historic weekend in Crawfordsville, Ind., at the Ironman Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) ATV racing event. Traci Cecco-Pickens, long-time Yamaha rider and GNCC icon, has made history securing her ninth overall women’s ATV series title and announcing her retirement atop the Ironman podium.

“This ninth championship is very special to me and by far will be the most memorable — it is going to be my last championship,” Traci said. “I am retiring from chasing championships. With nine titles, my health, friends and memories for a lifetime, I finally feel this is the right time for me.”

Traci may be retiring from the track, but that doesn’t mean she’s leaving racing entirely. “I will continue to be at all of the GNCC events supporting my husband and his racing career,” she said. “Racing is a tremendous part of my life, and I will truly miss competing, but it’s time for me to be part of the sport I love in a different way — whether that be representing longtime sponsors at the track, working the gas can in the pits, or mentoring new lady racers.” To all of the up-and-coming women racers out there, she says: “Never quit setting achievable goals, and always act like a lady.”

Cecco clinched her historic championship at the last GNCC round October 6 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, allowing her to enjoy the Ironman knowing her championship is already in the books. Known as the best woman racer in the history of the sport, Cecco captured six wins and was on the podium at every series stop this year leading up to Crawfordsville.

“Yamaha congratulates Traci on another championship season and reaching the historic milestone of winning nine championships throughout her career,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s ATV racing coordinator. “Traci has been an inspiration, a role model, and a champion of the sport throughout her career. She’s broken barriers for women in racing, and she’s proven that she is one of the best riders ever in any class or category. She’s a true champion and ambassador for our sport, and Yamaha is extremely proud to have been so closely involved in her successful career.”

Yamaha rolled a big rig into Crawfordsville for the weekend displaying new ATV models, including the 2013 Raptor 700R that is now assembled in the U.S.A. Yamaha will continue to have special giveaway items for fans throughout the weekend and display a large racer appreciation banner to solute competitors who rode blue throughout the season. Cecco’s announcement was capped by a special autograph signing session at the Yamaha truck including all of Yamaha’s top riders.

In the men’s XC-1 Pro series, Yamaha/Ballance Racing riders Walker Fowler and Taylor Kiser came into the Ironman ranked second and third respectively. Their consistency this year, including 12 combined podium finishes, has kept them in the top three this season.

“Yamaha congratulates our entire GNCC ATV racing team for their efforts this year,” said Luce. “Walker and Taylor have had very strong seasons and stayed near the top of the podium all year. We’re excited to see them finish the season strong and know they will be going for wins in these last couple of events.”

Traci turned pro in 1999 and won her first Women’s title in 2000. Since then, she has finished in the top three every year capturing an unprecedented nine overall titles, four second places and one third. Her career has given her international recognition as a top ATV racer, and Moves magazine named her one of its “Power Woman” in 2010 — an award that honors “25 influential and successful women in various fields.” Among her many career highlights, she remembers “Signing my first Yamaha Racing contract in 2006, being the first woman to win a morning ATV overall race, working with young riders at GNCC University, and traveling the country to promote women in racing,” as some of her favorites.

“Thank you to my loving husband for building championship bikes and for being so supportive in my decision to retire,” she said. “To my Yamaha family, thank you for making my dreams come true. Thanks to my longtime sponsors for always believing in me: GYTR, Maxxis, Hiper, Powermadd, HMF, Scott, GT Thunder, Yamalube, Works Connection, Ballance Racing, Fly Racing, Precision, Wiseco, DP Brakes and Tireballs. And also to my newer sponsors: Rekluse, Quadtech, G4 and Big Nutz Racing. Thanks to the greatest pit crew ever: Johnny Gallagher, Jim Wise, Stoney Livengood and Todd Moskala. A huge thank you to my mom and family for putting up with my crazy passion of racing, and a shout out to ATVRiders.com, Quadzone, and X-Country photos for making us all famous. And thanks especially to my fans and my GNCC family for all the hugs and love through the years! I couldn’t have achieved any of this without each and every one of you!”

Yamaha Announces 2013 Model Year ATV and Side-by-Side Vehicles

6 06 2012

CYPRESS, CA – June 6, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., today announced its 2013 model year line of ATV and Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicles including new Assembled in U.S.A. Raptor 700 sport ATVs and new Tactical Black Grizzly 700 4×4 and Rhino 700 4×4 Special Edition models.

The Raptor 700 models are the first Yamaha sport ATVs to be assembled in the U.S.  In 2010, Yamaha announced a long term production transfer strategy to move the great majority of its worldwide ATV production to the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) factory in Newnan, Georgia.  Last year, Yamaha moved the production of its top-of-the-line utility ATVs, the Grizzly 700 and Grizzly 550, to YMMC, and Yamaha will complete the production transfer with additional models coming to the U.S. by the end of 2013.

“Yamaha’s ATV production transfer represents the company’s long term commitment to the U.S. ATV market as well as its significant investment in the YMMC facility,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV/SxS group marketing manager.  “Yamaha’s U.S. factory is state-of-the-art with highly trained and passionate U.S. workers who are turning out the most durable and reliable ATV and SxS products.  Yamaha is proud to bring more ATV production to the U.S. – the world’s largest ATV market – and to be part of the local community in Newnan.”

The production transfer will continue through the end of 2013, and when complete, could result in Yamaha adding 200 or more American jobs at Yamaha’s U.S. factory as well as additional jobs at the company’s 125 North American parts supplier companies.  YMMC will ultimately be responsible for nearly all of Yamaha’s worldwide ATV production including both utility and sport models.

With its transfer to YMMC this summer, the Raptor 700R receives aggressive new styling and performance features that reinforce its position as the highest performance big bore sport ATV.  Catering to a larger base of ATV enthusiasts, Yamaha is producing three versions of the Raptor 700 this year with a range of pricing, performance and design options.

The Team Yamaha Blue/White Raptor 700R (MSRP $8,099) is $300 less than the comparable 2012 model.  This year’s Special Edition Raptor 700R features black plastics with special red graphics and GYTR accessories (MSRP $8,799) at $200 less than the 2012 SE.  Additionally for 2013, Yamaha has developed a third version Raptor 700 (MSRP $7,699) in white with dual graphic kit options priced at $700 below last year’s 700R model.  The all-white 2013 Raptor 700 comes with two graphic kits at the time of purchase: a Red, White and Blue Assembled in U.S.A.-themed kit and an aggressive black and red kit.

Yamaha is the number one brand in sport ATVs with the industry’s most complete line of high performance, track and trail conquering machines including, in addition to the three Raptor 700 models, the YFZ450R (MSRP $8,599), YFZ450R Special Edition (MSRP $8,949), YFZ450 (MSRP $6,899), Raptor 350 (MSRP $5,599), Raptor 250 (MSRP $4,599) and Raptor 125 (MSRP $3,499).  Yamaha will also produce the Raptor 90 youth model (MSRP $2,699).  Each of the sport and youth models has an all-white version with the dual graphic kit option – similar to the Raptor 700.

Also new for 2013 are Yamaha’s Special Edition Tactical Black Grizzly 700 FI with Electric Power Steering (EPS) (MSRP $10,999) and Rhino 700 FI 4×4 (MSRP $12,999).  All of Yamaha’s 4×4 vehicles are assembled at Yamaha’s U.S. factory, and these two new SE models feature an all-new matte black body and cast aluminum wheels for tactical design and durability.  These are the most off-road capable and durable vehicles in their respective classes both featuring Yamaha’s exclusive Ultramatic® automatic transmission, the most durable CVT system in the industry, and Yamaha’s On-Command® push-button 2WD, 4WD and 4WD diff-lock system.

The new Tactical Black SE models join Yamaha’s complete line of award-winning and super reliable utility ATVs for 2013 including the Grizzly 700 FI (MSRP starting at $8,899) and Grizzly 700 FI EPS (MSRP starting at $9,499), Grizzly 550 FI (MSRP starting at $7,999) and Grizzly 550 FI EPS (MSRP starting at $8,699), Grizzly 450 (MSRP starting at $6,899) and Grizzly 450 EPS (MSRP starting at $7,499), Grizzly 350 Auto 4×4 (MSRP starting at $5,599), Grizzly 300 Auto (MSRP $4,199) and Grizzly 125 Auto (MSRP $3,699).  Most of Yamaha’s utility ATVs come in multiple color options including Realtree AP HD camo.

Yamaha’s Rhino 700 FI SxS continues to be one of the highest quality, most versatile and off-road capable vehicles and for 2013 will be available in Red and Hunter Green (MSRP $11,499) and Realtree AP HD camo (MSRP $12,049).

Yamaha’s “Assembled in U.S.A.” Grizzly Giveaway Benefits Charities

2 06 2012

More than $11,000 Raised for Honored American Veterans Afield and Feed The Children

CYPRESS, CA – June 1, 2012 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., raised more than $11,000 through its recent “Assembled in U.S.A.” Grizzly Giveaway. The funds will be split evenly and donated to the Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) and Feed the Children (FTC) charities.

Through the fundraiser, which was launched last fall and ran until April 23, Yamaha donated a one-of-a-kind 2012 Grizzly 700 FI EPS ATV (MSRP $9,749) to help raise awareness and money for HAVA and FTC. Yamaha collected $5 donations from individuals entering to win the new Grizzly. William Rice from Newbury Park, Calif., was the randomly selected winner of the new Grizzly ATV.

“Yamaha Outdoors was part of founding HAVA five years ago and has been an ongoing sustaining sponsor in support of its mission to serve disabled vets and wounded active duty military personnel in outdoor sports,” said HAVA Chairman Tom Taylor. ”HAVA is grateful for this additional support which will allow for even more hunts and shooting events for the American Heroes the organization serves.”

“We are so thankful for the generosity shown by Yamaha and their employees in supporting children and their families,” said Feed The Children spokesman Tony Sellars. “Efforts of companies like Yamaha help us put food on the table for families that otherwise might have gone without.”

The Grizzly 700 FI EPS is Yamaha’s flagship ATV with top-of-the-line features like Electric Power Steering (EPS), fuel injection, Ultramatic® automatic transmission, On-Command® push-button four-wheel-drive, four wheel independent suspension and much more, making it the toughest, most off-road capable ATV in its class.

“Yamaha donated its top of the line Grizzly 700 ATV to help raise the most money possible for HAVA and FTC – two organizations that Yamaha is very proud to support,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV/SxS group marketing manager. ”Yamaha congratulates Mr. Price for winning the Grizzly and thanks everyone who made a $5 donation as part of this sweepstakes.”

The Grizzly that William Price won is Steel Blue with cast aluminum wheels and has a unique red, white and blue U.S.A.-themed graphic kit. It was one of the first Grizzly 700 ATVs to come off Yamaha’s production line in Newnan, Ga., last May – significant because it marks Yamaha’s long-term strategy to move the production of more ATV models to the U.S.

Yamaha is a founding sponsor of HAVA (www.honoredveterans.org), an organization created to help disabled soldiers and veterans with the healing process through active participation in outdoors sports. Yamaha has worked with Feed the Children (www.feedthechildren.org) for more than 10 years raising several hundred thousand dollars and feeding tens of thousands of children. Yamaha will donate all money raised through the raffle evenly between the two organizations.

Yamaha ATV Team Sets Records On and Off Course at GNCC Ironman

28 10 2011

Team Blue Celebrates Champs and Donates Unprecedented $6,000 at “Second Annual Pink Race”

CYPRESS, CA – October 27, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Yamaha’s cross country ATV race team started celebrating the 2011 season early this year at the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Ironman in Crawfordsville, Indiana.  With two series championships already clinched and the season’s largest gathering of racers and fans on hand, Yamaha rolled out a host of racer and fan appreciation activities and raised the donation bar for the “Annual Pink Race.”

Typically the season finale, this year’s Ironman landed two weeks before the final round of 2011 coming up at Loretta Lynn’s in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, which was rescheduled to November 5.  Traci Cecco took her eighth win of the year in the Women’s class adding to her record eighth series championship which she secured even before the Ironman.  Ballance Racing’s Walker Fowler, who has also already locked in his series championship, took his twelfth straight XC2 Pro Am win – a series record.  In XC1 Pro competition, Ballance Racing’s Taylor Kiser finished second – his fifth podium of the season – which moved him to third in overall series points.

A true supporter of the sport, Yamaha rolled its demo truck into Crawfordsville again this year and set up a hospitality area for racers and fans alike handing out 800 Yamaha beanies.  New for this year, Yamaha displayed large banners and gave out posters listing top Yamaha racers from each category.  More than 100 racers were recognized and congratulated for their seasons.

“GNCC Racing is proud to provide a platform in which members of the off-road racing community can give back to local organizations such as FAITH Alliance,” said GNCC Media Manager Jen Kenyon.  ”Yamaha stepped up in a big way at Ironman to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and their commitment to their program here at GNCC.”

Yamaha set an Ironman “Annual Pink Race” record by committing $6,000 in support of FAITH Alliance, a breast cancer resource in Montgomery County, Indiana.  Yamaha will donate $1,000 on behalf of each of the five Yamaha racers who captured podium finishes in the overall morning and afternoon ATV races, including Taylor Kiser, second place in XC-1; Walker Fowler, first in XC-2; Gabe Philips, second in XC-2, Traci Cecco, first place women’s; and Dave Simmons, first in the master’s.  Yamaha also raised another $1,000 by raffling donated gear from Cecco and Fowler with the number one (#1) commemorating their 2011 series championships.

“Yamaha congratulates Traci and Walker for their 2011 championships, as well as all of the Yamaha racers for a great season of cross country racing,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV/SxS marketing manager who was at the Ironman and offered the $1,000 challenge to Yamaha racers.  ”Yamaha is proud to make a financial contribution to the FAITH Alliance and its efforts to support breast cancer patients.”

“On behalf of the entire FAITH Alliance board, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the generous donation from Yamaha,” said Sasha Clements of the FAITH Alliance.  ”We normally operate on small donations from individuals or community events.  This donation will make an enormous difference in the amount of assistance we can provide in the following year(s).”

FAITH Alliance provides access to screenings and treatment, assistance with transportation to medical appointments, educational programs to increase awareness of prevention, screening, and treatment, coordination of efforts with medical and healthcare communities, informational publications, and services to support the immediate needs of breast cancer patients.
