Travis Coy Takes Overall Win at Virginia City Grand Prix

27 04 2015

Blackburn, DeLong and Sheets also Grab Podium Finishes

MEDFORD, OR – April 27, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The Virginia City Grand Prix is one of America’s greatest off-road events and to say you were the overall winner of the event is even greater. Motorcycle Superstore Bell Helmets support rider and RPM/KTM Racing’s Travis Coy can now do that and has placed his name alongside some of off-road’s legendary racers like Jack Johnson, Larry Roeseler, Danny Hamel and Ty Davis.

This year was the 44th running of the event promoted by the Outlaw MC.  It’s a three-hour event that includes lots of two-track mining roads, single track trails and rocky creek beds with course elevations of 5000-7000 feet in the mountains west of Carson City, NV. Those who have previously raced this event know that the weather can always be an issue, but this year Mother Nature helped lay out a perfect course.

“The race was perfect! We had a little snow and a little rain the night before which made for epic conditions,” explained Coy. “I got out front just a few miles in and was able stay there most of the race. I pitted on lap five and actually got passed but was able to get the lead right back and pull a gap to the finish. I’m pumped to win it my first year attending; it’s a race I’ve always wanted to try.”

Ty Tremaine is Muy Bueno at Mexico SuperEnduro

23 02 2015

Cody Webb Takes Second in Pro Class

MEDFORD, OR – February 23, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Round four of the 2015 Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship proved to be another perfect round for Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmets / KTM / RPM Racing Team rider Ty Tremaine who dominated the Mexico round with three perfect motos.

“I am super happy with how I rode – I wanted that win bad. I just rode smooth and smart because there was a really technical rock section. I made the fewest mistakes out there winning all three motos! I just now need to carry the momentum into Brazil next week.”

World SuperEnduro is similar to the GEICO EnduroCross here in America but runs with a different format which includes three motos where the overall best total scores determines the winner. Tremaine has had perfect events at round one in Poland and now round four in Mexico. He currently has a 14 point lead over Sweden’s Andreas Linusson.

Cody Webb put in another solid performance in the Prestige Pro class with 3-1-2 moto finishes and 2nd overall on the day behind five-time champion Taddy Blazusiak.

“It felt great to get back on track with a moto win and ride to my capabilities. I battled down to the wire and fought from behind in the final moto to nearly snag the overall victory. It definitely improves your confidence when you race against the top guys in the world. The new KTM feels awesome and I can’t wait for the next round in Brazil.”

Bell Helmets Reclaims Global Distribution to Powersports Market

8 08 2013

Bell Restructures Sales and Product Development Teams to Prepare for Global Expansion

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA – August 8, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – After more than 20 years of licensing its brand name to an Italian entity for use outside of North America, Bell Helmets today announced the reacquisition of its worldwide rights in the powersports market.

Bell has been working diligently to reacquire global distribution rights as part of a concerted effort to return the brand to its rightful place at the top of the powersports industry. “Our motorcycle helmet business is a growth engine for our portfolio and this acquisition marks a major milestone for the Bell brand,” said Terry Lee, Easton-Bell Sports, Inc. Chief Executive Officer. “This positions our brand to regain share globally just as we have in North America.”

After two years of more than 40% growth in North America, the Bell powersports business is poised to expand its geographic presence. Previously, the Powersports business was only able to distribute into the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and select Latin America countries. With the reacquisition of global distribution, the brand will also focus on Europe, South Africa, New Zealand and Brazil. The next step is to identify the best distributor partners who will ensure that the core values of the Bell brand are upheld. Additional expansion will continue throughout other countries and regions.

“This is a dynamic, exciting and challenging time as we re-stake our claim to the Bell brand, sales and product development on a global scale,” said Chris Sackett, Business Unit Director – Powersports. “This is what we’ve all been working towards, and we’re excited that everyone in these newly-acquired regions will know they are buying superior product from the original Bell.”

To support its global unification, Bell recently announced several new hires, promotions and the reallocation of several key executives, which resulted in a product development team that has tripled in size. The product development team will be led by long time industry veteran, Mike Lowe, who most recently managed helmet development across a portfolio of head protection brands including Bell cycling helmets, Giro snow and cycling helmets, Riddell football helmets and Easton hockey helmets.

Matt Schumann, the Director of Sales, will take over global responsibility. His most recent hire was Brett Conley, International Sales Manager. Conley joins Bell from Fox Racing, bringing eight years of international sales experience. Conley will manage and support Bell’s international distribution partners, focusing specifically on Canada, Latin America and Pacific Rim regions.

Bell is also actively recruiting a sales and marketing leader and a sales operations manager based out of Europe, who will handle Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

For more information, visit Bell at the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) on October 18-20 in Orlando, FL and at EIMCA November 5-10 in Milan, Italy.

Bell Helmets and Transitions Optical Bring Adaptive Face Shield Technology to Global Markets

17 02 2013

As demand grows, partners expand line of photochromic face shields into Latin America, Australia

PINELLAS PARK, FL – February 15, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Exemplifying the growing trend of photochromics globally, Bell Helmets and Transitions Optical, Inc., have expanded their partnership into the Latin American and Australia markets, bringing the popular Bell® Transitions® adaptive face shield to more motorcycle enthusiasts across the globe.

“Our business has grown, in large part due to the success of the Bell Transitions adaptive face shield,” said Chris Sackett, business manager, Bell Powersports. “The Latin American and Australian markets are a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to expand this successful partnership and bring photochromic technology to a new segment of riders.”

The shields, which use the same state-of-the-art technology as in Transitions® everyday lenses, automatically self-adjust from clear at night and in low light conditions to dark gray in bright sunlight. The shields eliminate the need for motorcycle riders to carry and switch out two shields.

“More and more motorcycle riders are recognizing the convenience of photochromic technology in their face shields,” said Grady Lenski, director, Adjacencies, Transitions Optical. “This is in line with a growing trend we’re seeing for photochromic lenses as well, as more sport enthusiasts are opting to choose adaptive technology for their sunglasses and goggles.”

According to the Vision Council’s 2012 Sports Sunglass Report, 16.2% of all action sports sunglasses/goggles now feature photochromic lenses.
